Family Therapy

Family Therapy

  • You’ve noticed that the whole family is affected by the problem (grief, substance use, life transition), and it feels too big to manage…
  • You’ve tried individual therapy in the past, but you can’t seem to get your family to understand your needs…
  • You recognize that including the family can elicit much-needed support and accountability…

Family therapists have unique training and an exclusive skill set in understanding how problems affect entire families, and how to use the entire family to make changes. Family therapy can be helpful to almost any emotional, mental, and behavioral health problem. If the problem affects the family, family members can become part of the solution.

***You should know that as a family therapist, I don’t spend my time looking for someone to blame, or trying to figure out who is right or wrong. I encourage all family members to work together to find the solution to their ordeal. I believe that we can overcome issues when we work together.

You might seek family therapy to address the following:

  • Life transitions (marriage, new baby, launching of children, etc.)
  • Family conflict and communication
  • Adolescent issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Aging, illness, disability, caregiving
  • Divorce / remarriage adjustment
  • Blended families
  • Family-of-origin and in-law concerns
  • Spirituality and religiosity
  • Even, anxiety and depression!
